My Skin Care Regimen!

Friday, September 10, 2010

Hey Goddesses!

I wanted to share my skin care regimen for those that may have the same skin type as me.

Bare Skin
(In this photo, the only cosmetics I am wearing are Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black and Neutrogena MoistureShine Gloss in Super Sparkle)

I have combination skin that is acne prone and can leave scarring. Here is my daily and nightly skin care regimen:

AM

1. I wash my face with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash and a Buf-Puf Facial Sponge to exfoliate and get my skin nice and smooth.

2. I then apply Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Eye cream all over my eyes.

3. I apply  Neutrogena Moisture Oil Free Formula with SPF 15 on my face and neck.

4. If I have any blemishes, I apply Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment on them to treat them during the day.

PM

1. Before bed, I remove any eye make-up with Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover and a round cotton pad.

2. Then I remove any face make-up with Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes.

3. Again, I wash my face with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash.

4. Apply my Neutrogena Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Eye cream.

5. Apply my Neutrogena Light Night Cream on my face and neck.

6. I then use a small amount of a retinol treatment I got from my dermatologist. A similar product is philosophy on a clear day retinol clarifying lotion. This helps brighten my skin and eliminate past acne scarring. This stuff works! Mr. Bronze Goddess (or would it be Mr. Bronze God?) always compliments me on how much "that stuff has got you glowing"!

7. If I have any blemishes, I put Bye Bye Blemish Drying Lotion on them and they are gone by the next morning.

I know I use almost all Neutrogena products but I do that because they were recommended by my dermatologist and they have been working for me for the past two years. In my last semester of college, my skin went crazy with the stress of 18 credit hours of school, working 40 hours a week and volunteering at the Boys and Girls club. I thought I could handle it on my own, but failed and finally was able to get an appointment with my awesome dermatologist and I was clear within 6 weeks.  Now, I only occasionally get breakouts which I am so grateful for.

Borghese Satin Shadow Milano Trio & Lumina High Shine Lipcolour Review!

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Hola Goddesses!

Last week, I received a lovely package in the mail from Borghese with some awesome new products I tried and I would like to share with you.

For those of you unfamiliar with Borghese they have combined the tradition of classic Italian beauty and modern sensibility to create a collection of color and treatment products of unparalleled effectiveness and quality that celebrate the unique beauty in every woman. I also love that a portion of their sales help to support military families and they do not test on animals.

From Borghese.com:

Satin Shadow Milano Trio

These newly formulated powder shadows caress the skin, imparting a light luminescence without creasing or flaking. Silky soft, and luxuriously textured, they glide on easily, blend beautifully, and soothe the skin with every sweep of color. And the shades are simply delicioso! Six fashion-right palettes allow a woman to play with shading and texture, creating a play of color that goes from light to lush, pearly-pretty to softly matte. Creating a personalized artistico look that is flirtatious, sensuous, and fun.

What it does

o Long-lasting

o Irritant and fragrance free

o Blends evenly

I received this eye shadow trio in the shade Romantico Brown. On the back of the package it states, “Satin Formula imparts rich, crease resistant colour that stays fresh for hours, while it soothes and moisturizes eyelids. Free of irritants. Fragrance free.” (Love it!)

The packaging is a gorgeous black textured case with a red jeweled button to open the compact. Inside are the three shades, a nice size mirror, a sponge applicator and a soft brush applicator. The actual eye shadows themselves are embossed with the Borghese emblem and it so beautiful I almost don’t want to try the colors; almost!

From left to right, the first shade is a sparkly, crème brulee shade. Next, is a shimmery, dark , sooty deep plum shade (I’m envisioning a plum smoky eye!) Finally, another shimmery, soft brown caramel shade that is as equally gorgeous as the other two. I swatched them on my hand and whoa! These are highly pigmented; you can definitely see the quality.

I also received a lipstick.

From Borghese.com:

Lumina High Shine Lipcolour

Innovative, weightless, mineral-enriched, high-shine formula helps provide anti-oxidant protection and shields against environmental aggressors. Lips feel re-moisturized, re-smoothed and re-plumped. Formulated with our signature “Acqua di Vita®” Complex.

What it does

• Delivers high shine, full coverage color.

• Shea Butter – to smooth and condition lips

• Vitamins C & E – to provide anti-oxidant protection

This lipstick also came in gorgeous packaging and the shade I received was Botticelli Bronze. It is a shimmery brown with coral undertones. I am normally not a lipstick girl (love gloss) but I was super excited to give this a try.

I applied  the caramel shade all over my  lid to right under the brown bone.  I then highlighted my brow bone, inner corner of lid and first 1/3 of lid with the creme brulee shade.  I finally blended the plum shade into my crease and outer "v", on my bottom lash line and used an angled brush to line on my top lash line.

I applied the lipstick from the tube and then finished with a lip brush.

The Finished Look

Yesterday, I wore the complete look with both the eye shadow trio and the lipstick and got tons of complements at work. The lipstick really feels like a lip balm which I love and it was super shiny like a gloss which I also love. It was long lasting and I only had to re-apply twice through the whole day including through sipping water and lunch. The eye shadows wore beautifully and did not crease for 10 hours. That is pretty good for me seeing as I tend to have oily eyelids. At night when I removed my make up, it came off easy and did not irritate my eyes. I would definitely recommend both the lipstick and the eye shadow trio to have in your make-up collection.

Check out the rest of Borghese’s great products at Borghese.com. They offer Skin Care, Cosmetics, Body/Hand care, Spa Products, Hair Care, Fragrances and Men’s products.

Love, Peace & Lip Gloss!
