Fit Goddess!

Hola Goddesses!

A special someone suggested that I post pics of myself at the gym, so here is the first.

Just finished Zumba class at LA Fitness

I have been working out consistently for about 2 1/2 to 3 months.  I've lost about 10 pounds and want to lose 8 more.  I know it doesn't sound like a lot but I'm only 5'4" so just 5 pounds of extra weight makes a difference on me and it takes longer for me to lose pounds since I'm not seriously overweight.  I have noticed a big difference in how my clothes fit which is awesome and I've been losing inches! My body type is naturally muscular, kinda hour glass with broad shoulders, smaller natural waist and larger hips.  I have been getting a lot of encouraging compliments at the gym from guys and girls so that makes me want to go harder! I also want to build more lean muscle, tone my arms, sculpt my abs and get a bigger  firmer booty!

Early last year, I went through a really bad break up and I made a promise to myself this April that I was sick of the way I looked and I would dedicate this year to getting into the best shape of my life.  I also really wanted to be healthy and take care of my body as best I can. I eat healthy as well: lean meats, fruits and veggies.  I do try to have a cheat day once a week so I don't go crazy cause I do love to eat!

I go to the gym 5 to 6 days a week and I go hiking on Sundays.  I also do one round of the Body Rocker Weight Workout 2x a week.  I work out at LA Fitness and I love it because they offer so may different classes so I will not get bored.  The classes I take are an hour each. When I do just regular cardio, it is usually on the elliptical or the stair-mill (which is the best machine ever made!).  I love to do yoga, get my salsa on in Zumba, and take the spinning/cycling class when I can.

Here's what my typical workout week looks like:

Sunday: Hiking (outdoors), Power Yoga
Monday: Zumba, Power Yoga
Tuesday: Zumba, Body Rocker Weight Workout
Wednesday: Power Yoga, Cardio
Thursday: Off day
Friday: Body Works (weight toning class), Cardio
Saturday: Zumba, Body Rocker Weight Workout

Also, my off day will change based on what day my current graduate school class is being held.

I recently found a tumblr page called http://fitwomen.tumblr.com/. They have amazingly motivating pictures of beautifully fit women that help me get inspired!

I hope my story helps you want to workout and get fit and healthy too!

Goddess Thoughts...

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Be brave and be patient. Have faith in yourself; trust in the significance of your life and the purpose of your passion. You are strong enough to sit in the space between spaces and allow divine inspiration to shed some light. When you put positive energy and productive effort into the world, it will come back to you. Occasionally, in ways, you might not immediately understand and on a time frame you didn’t expect. Look. Listen. Learn. Stay open. Your destiny is awaiting you.

Goddess Mani of the Day: Fun Nails!

Monday, May 21, 2012

Hola Goddesses,

Today, I decided to get back to a little fun with my nails.  I love doing nail art because I feel like it plays to my creative side without the commitment of a drastic hair color change or cut.  I was inspired for this look by a photo I came across on Tumblr that caught my eye.

I used a couple of different polishes for this look.  The base of my pinkie, index finger and thumb are Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear in The Real Teal.  My ring finger is polished with Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear in Twisted Pink.  The middle finger has a base of one coat of The Real Teal and then one coat of Orly Tiara and one coat of Wet 'n Wild fast dry in Party of Five Glitters.  Tiara is a regular silver glitter in a clear base and Party of Five Glitters has red, fuchsia, green, blue and silver hexagon shaped glitter in a clear base.  I also stuck 3 round rhinestones on my pinkie! I love this look and think it is really fun.  I plan on doing more nail art in the future.

Hope you have a Happy Monday!

My Curly Hair Routine!

Friday, April 20, 2012

Hola Goddesses! I have been receiving many requests on how I style and take care of my curly hair.  This is my current routine:

Here is the list of products I use on my hair right now:

I really love this product combination for my curls. I would suggest using a brand that does not use Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates in the shampoo (they can strip the hair of moisture). My favorite brands right now are Crème of Nature Argan Oil products and Organix products. These products keep my curls moisturized and I love the way the products smell to!

You will need these tools:

- wide tooth comb or denman brush

- hair clips (to section your hair off)

This is my routine:

1. In the shower, I first wash my hair making sure I really massage my scalp to get the circulation going and get rid of any flakes and left over product.

2. I rinse really well and then wring my hair out and apply the deep conditioner all over, massaging it in. I then take one of the hair clips and put my hair up in a bun to allow the conditioner to absorb while I take the rest of my shower. (Sometimes, I will detangle my hair in the shower with the conditioner in it using a wide toothed shower comb.)

3. I finish my shower and before I get out, I take my hair down rinse out the conditioner really well. I then wring out the excess water and just place a towel around my necks to catch the extra water.

4. I don't towel dry my hair cause that makes frizz.

5. Next I spray the detangler all over and take two quarter sizes ( in your palm) of the leave in conditioner and apply it all through my hair. If I haven’t already done this in the shower, I then detangle my hair with the denman brush or wide tooth comb, starting from the bottom up.

6. I then divide my hair into two sections, half up half down, and clip the top section up with a hair clip.

7. I apply my styling product ( mousse, gel or soft curl cream) to the bottom section, about a half palm full (depending on how long or thick your hair is) and kind of rake the product through my hair with my fingers. This detangles the hair and forms your curls as well. Do this to the top section as well.

8. If you wear a part in your hair, use your wide tooth comb to make the part now and then finish with the shine spray or a few more drops of the serum on the outer layers of your hair.

9. Now you let it air dry. Do not touch your hair until it is dry. If you do, it will frizz up. When it is dry, then you can start to fluff it up to get some more volume and shape if it is flat.

My curls will last about 3 or 4 days, then I rewash and do the process over. I refresh them with the detangler spray and moisturize them daily with the Coconut Oil Hair Milk and I sleep on a satin pillowcase to prevent breakage and moisture loss. I also do a weekly deep conditioning of my hair with a homemade shea butter/coconut oil/olive oil/avocado oil mask conditioner that I make.  Click here to read the info on the benefits and how to make this mask.

Here are a few pics of my results, wet then dry:

I hope this answers a lot of questions. I plan on filming a video so you can see it all in action!

Love, Peace & Lip Gloss! Besos!
